I have a few announcements!
Are you getting ready for the PineWood Derby?
We will be racing our Car on the January 16, at the Masonic Lodge during our next Pack Meeting. Please arrive at 6:45 to check your car in! It will be weighed (max weight 5oz) and inspected.
The official Rules are attached. You may see websites that encourage purchase of axle's and wheels etc... please be aware- only the wheels and axle's in the box are authorized. Liquid lubricant for the axle's is unauthorized.... Please read the rules! Chili/Cheese Dogs will be the treat provided by the Pack.
If you (scouts) are not ready or need help cutting your basic design out (with adult supervision), there will be a Pine Wood Derby Workshop held at my house on Sunday, January 11th between the hours of 1 and 4pm. Stop by at your convenience. The address is:

Turn into Burnside Dr., my house is the first one on the left- keep driving about 30 yards and pull in the back yard by the boat.
Ready to Camp?
All Webelos have been invited to camp with the Troop 12 Boy-scouts at Alafia River Rendezvous.
This is a great time and the Boy Scouts love to go back every year. Guaranteed to be a good time.
When: January 23-25
Time: Webelos will meet at the Scout Hut Friday, 5:00pm to Carpool to Camp site.
Cost: $21.00 Total. $15 for food and $6 for Rendezvous entrance. There will 24oz Bottled Root Beer for sale. (The kids love it). So an extra five bucks for spending money may be a good idea.
We will return Sunday Around 12:30 pm.
All Scouts are required to have the Medical Form filled out in case of Emergency! (Attached.)
Also attached is a suggested weekend camping checklist.

Next weeks meeting will be at the regular time; at the Scout Hut, Tuesday 5:00pm.
The 2009 membership cost is $10.00 per scout (and any registered adult leaders) for the entire year. Add $2.00 if you would like to receive the Boys Life magazine.

We had a great summer! We visted the Clearwater Aquarium, went to the beach, had a pool party, and had a Camp Out/Party! So much fun!
Thanks to all the parents who helped make all that happen.
Our year is starting over, it will be our last year as Cub Scouts.
We are now ready to get back in to the groove of Weekly Meeting starting September 1st!
We will continue to meet at the Boy Scout Hut on 2nd Ave NE in Lutz every Turesday @ 5:00pm.

Our Monthly Pack Meeting is on Friday at Masonic Lodge. Hot Dogs will be served at 6:30.
Food will be shut down by 7:00pm to start the Awards/ Webelos Crossover.

Attention All Scouts! April 25th we are planning a trip to the Fun & Sun Air Museum off of I4 toward Orlando. We are scheduled to be there at 10:00 for the tour. Scouts get free entrance to the museum/airshow. Lunch will be provided on site by the Museum for $3.00. (HotDogs,Chips and Soda.)

I have made arrangements with Captain Vandertholen of the 332nd Transportation Battalion for an opportunity to complete the weapon cleaning portion of the Rifle Merit Badge. The visit to the Army Reserve Center usually includes a weapon display of : 9mm handgun, M16 rifle & 203 grenade launcher & 50 Cal machine gun. The boys will clean the M16's that were fired on the range the day prior. There will be very knowledgeable Soldiers there to answer any questions the boys have. Also we may get to tour of the Vault and the LCU 2000 (Army Boat).
All Pack 12 Webelo's and Troop 12 Boy Scouts that are interested can meet at the Scout Hut on Sunday March 8th at 11:00 for departure to:
Rattlesnake USARC (United States Army Reserve Center)
5201 West Tyson Ave,
Tampa FL 33611.
We will probably be finished by 2:00 or 2:30 and head back to the scout hut.
Plan on eating before you leave or on the way down. We must enter the gate together, park together, and stay in a group the entire time we are in the facilty.

If you like planes and air shows, save April 25th to visit the Florida Air Museum in Lakeland Florida. As Scouts, the boys in uniform get free admission. Adults are admitted @ $5.00 per. |
Hello Webelos!
Our Meeting is on the same same day, place and time.
Tuesday, Scout Hut 5:00.
One of the requirements to earn the Arrow of Light is the boys must visit a Troop meeting.
Troop 12 has agreed to host our Webelos tomorrow night, directly after our meeting at 7:00pm.
Please plan to staying to attend the BoyScout meeting.
We will be working on Readyman, Naturalist, Scholar and Artist in the upcoming months.

Here are the final details for Webelos I Camping trip this weekend.
1ST- Please remember to bring back the scouting for food bags to the scout hut on Saturday morning so we can turn them in to Metropolitan Ministries! Place your name on the bag- it counts as a service project!
2ND- Next meeting, Tuesday FEB 24th we are invited to the Carrolwood Fire Station # 41. Address is 15905 Mapledale Blvd. We have an appointment there at 7:00pm. We will meet at the Scout hut at 6:15 and depart by 6:30. If you have requirements to work on I will be at the scout hut at 5:00 pm to assist the boys. Evan has Snack Duty.
Finally- Camp! I am ready to have some fun! I have attached the Troop 12 recommended weekend camp checklist in case the checklist we went over at the meeting was misplaced. Remember, we will only be there one night so use your best judgment when packing. Pack light, but it may be chilly! The weather is supposed to be nice, maybe some rain on Sunday. Don't forget leather work gloves if you have them. I will have extra cotton gloves. The boys will have to show me and explain what they packed when we get there. It is part of a requirement for the "Outdoorsman" activity pin.
Lets meet at 8:30 at the scout hut for load/carpool/depart by 8:45.
Food is free for the Scouts, The cost for adults and siblings is $10.
We will return Sunday around 1:00 pm.

Last night we started Knots- here is one of many good website to refresh and learn basic knots.
Some scouts still need to turn in a fire escape plan.
We are rotating snack duty alphabetically by last name- Kristian has it for next week. 2/10.
Tonight is the Parent meeting at the Masnic Lodge- please come and check it out.
We are planning this months Camping trip to Brorien on the 21-22 Feb. I have a service project lined up with the Park Ranger so if you don't want to camp- You can still come out on Saturday to knock out some activity requirements.
Scouts are paid for by the Pack - Adults and siblings cost $10.00 for food.
If the parent can not make it and the scout wants to go (Webelos only) we can make arrangements. I need to know how many people are attending so we can plan properly.

Hi Scouts and Parents, Remember, no Webelos I meeting tonight due to Veteran's Day. Thank you to Matt, Mike and all of our other Veteran's for everything that you have done and continue to do for us. I hope you Scouts are practicing the Athlete skills we worked on at the last meeting. You want to show improvement in your skills after a 30 day period, and the best way to do that is practice, practice, practice. (Trina and Mieke, I will be at the Boy Scout hut tonight around 6:45. If you want to bring Lonnie and Nathan, then I will take them through the skills we did last week and record their results.) At the next meeting on 11/18, be prepared for the 1/4 mile walk/run. I want to start the Artist activity badge (pin for us) at the next meeting, also. I will be bringing a couple of laptops for one of the requirements. If any of you parents have a laptop with Microsoft Word on it and would be willing to bring it in for that meeting, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Melanie |
