I have made arrangements with Captain Vandertholen of the 332nd Transportation Battalion for an opportunity to complete the weapon cleaning portion of the Rifle Merit Badge. The visit to the Army Reserve Center usually includes a weapon display of : 9mm handgun, M16 rifle & 203 grenade launcher & 50 Cal machine gun. The boys will clean the M16's that were fired on the range the day prior. There will be very knowledgeable Soldiers there to answer any questions the boys have. Also we may get to tour of the Vault and the LCU 2000 (Army Boat).
All Pack 12 Webelo's and Troop 12 Boy Scouts that are interested can meet at the Scout Hut on Sunday March 8th at 11:00 for departure to:
Rattlesnake USARC (United States Army Reserve Center)
5201 West Tyson Ave,
Tampa FL 33611.
We will probably be finished by 2:00 or 2:30 and head back to the scout hut.
Plan on eating before you leave or on the way down. We must enter the gate together, park together, and stay in a group the entire time we are in the facilty.
