Cubmaster's Message

Welcome to Cub Scout Pack 12. Our energetic, and civic minded, group based out of Lutz K-8 School in Lutz FL, and is open to all youth from any school in grades 1 thru 5.

Scouting is a family activity that gives kids the opportunity to discover the outdoors, make exciting projects, learn about citizenship, and most importantly, have fun with their friends and parents.

The Scouting program also provides a format where kids can track growth and achievement in these areas. In addition to the program structure, there are many regional scouting resources for Cubs, such as outdoor camps, overnight programs with museums, an outfitting store, and a professional regional staff.

The Pack itself is led by parents in their scouting areas of interest and expertise, and we are fortunate we live in a place full of talent and leadership. WE do our best to provide each grade has its own parent lead Den, which gives kids a chance to work on age appropriate projects.

We look forward to sharing the lifelong memories Scouting brings with you and your children.

Over 100 Years of Heritage

Since 1930, the Boy Scouts of America have helped younger boys through Cub Scouting. It is a year-round family program designed for boys who are in the first grade through fifth grade (or 7, 8, 9, and 10 years of age).

Parents, leaders, and organizations work together to achieve the purposes of Cub Scouting. Currently, Cub Scouting is the largest of the BSA's three traditional membership divisions. (The others are Boy Scouting and Venturing.)

The 10 purposes of Cub Scouting are:

  1. Character Development

  2. Spiritual Growth

  3. Good Citizenship

  4. Sportsmanship and Fitness

  5. Family Understanding

  6. Respectful Relationships

  7. Personal Achievement

  8. Friendly Service

  9. Fun and Adventure

  10. Preparation for Boy Scouts

What exactly do we do in Pack 12?

As a Den...

Individual "dens" are usually 4-12 boys in the same grade that meet as a group 2-3 times each month. Parents (den leaders) plan activities for each meeting.

Activities typically revolve around helping the boys earn merit badges to advance.

As a Pack...

The pack meets monthly and both scouts and parents participate in a variety of AWESOME events, like:

  • Family Camping at Camp Brorein and other scouting locations around Tampa Bay

  • Pinewood Derby, Space Derby and Rain-gutter Regatta

  • Community Service Projects

  • Blue and Gold Banquet

  • Spook-A-Ree (Halloween celebration)

  • Parades and Local Events

  • Trips to Mosi, Wildlife Areas, Fire Stations, News Stations

Seriously...so much fun. And, they learn about leadership and doing their best throughout all events.

If you are always checking out our Web Page you can see some of the changes we have made.
